Admission to a Bachelor's Programme
The basic requirements for admission to a bachelor's programme at Montanuniversität Leoben are a school leaving certificate and language skills in the language of instruction of the chosen study programme (at least level B2).
Persons without a school leaving certificate can obtain the general university entrance qualification for Montanist bachelor’s programmes by taking the university entrance qualification examination at Graz University of Technology.
Students with language skills of at least level A2 can take the required language courses and examinations as part of the University Preparation Programme at Montanuniversität Leoben.

Responsible Consumption and Production
*Applicants, regardless of their nationality, who apply for admission to the English-language Bachelor's degree programmes at Montanuniversität Leoben from 1 November 2024 must undergo a mandatory Qualification Test.
For some bachelor's programmes, you must have a certain provable knowledge of descriptive geometry. If required, this knowledge can also be acquired during the course of the study programme as a supplementary examination.

Admission to a Bachelor's Programme with a School Leaving Certificte from Austria
You need the following documents as originals as well as scans:
- Passport or ID card
- Complete school leaving certificate
- Optional: in case of transfer from another Austrian university, the certificate of depature and the student record sheet are additionally required
- Optional: Proof of language skills in English if you are enrolling in a bachelor's programme in Englisch, provided that English lessons or an examination in English are not part of your school leaving certificate
What to Do:
1.) Online Preparation:
- Create a basic account in th university's MUonline. Make sure to remember your login data so that you can manage your application.
- Enter the application for your desired study programme under the online pre-registration and upload the required documents. video
- At the end, confirm that all the information you entered is correct in the summary and click on Send. Only then is your application submitted
2.) Personal Completion of Admission:
- Book an appointment for enroling via Timify, or just come directly to the Study Support Center during our opening hours.
- Bring all of the documents listed above as ORIGINALS. After they have been checked, you will receive your student number, information on how to pay tuition fees/student union fee, the pin code for your student account and your student identity card.
- Pay the tuition fees/student union fee immediately after your appointment. (Please make sure to enter the correct reference number!)
- After the university has received your payments (approx. 2-3 working days later), activate your MU-online student account with your PIN code. Please note that this code is only valid for a few days, after which you will have to apply for a new PIN code at the Study Support Center.
- Activate your student identity card shortly after at one of the terminals at the Study Support Center for the upcoming semester.
- Familiarise yourself with your digital curriculum support under Mein Studium (My Studies).
- Register for your courses in good time.
Admission to a Bachelor's Programme with a School Leaving Certificate from EU/EWR/CH
You need the following documents as originals as well as scans:
- Passport or ID card
- Complete school leaving certificate (all pages) *
- Proof of language proficiency
- CV
* Find out whether certification is necessary in your case and, if so, submit the duly certified certificate.
Documents in foreign languages must be translated into German or English by a sworn and court-certified interpreter.
What to Do:
1.) Online Preparation:
- Create a basic account in th university's MUonline. Make sure to remember your login data so that you can manage your application.
- Enter the application for your desired study programme under the online pre-registration and upload the required documents. video
- At the end, confirm that all the information you entered is correct in the summary and click on Send. Only then is your application submitted
Review of Your Documents by the Study Support Center
- Your digital documents will be checked in advance by our clerks.
- If we have any questions about your application, we will get back to you as soon as possible.
- You can see the status of your application on your MUonline account.
- After your digitally submitted documents have been positively checked, you will receive a letter of invitation to enrol via the email address you entered in your basic account.
2.) Personal Completion of Admission:
- Book an appointment for inscribing via Timify.
- Bring all of documents listed above as ORIGINALS. After they have been checked, you will receive your student number, information on how to pay tuition fees/student union fee, the pin code for your student account and your student identity card.
- Pay the tuition fees/student union fee immediately after your appointment. (Please make sure to enter the correct reference number!)
- After the university has received your payments (approx. 2-3 working days later), activate your MU-online student account with your PIN code. Please note that this code is only valid for a few days, after which you will have to apply for a new PIN code at the Study Support Center.

Admission to a Bachelor's Programme with a School Leaving Certificte from International Third Country
You need the following documents as originals as well as scans:
- Passport
- Complete, duly certified school leaving certificate with all pages
- Proof of language proficiency
- CV
- Certificate of Completion of the Qualification Test (only for applications to an English-language Bachelor's degree programme)
- Optional: If you have completed at least three years of studies, submit any further dgree certificates/transcripts
Documents in foreign languages must be translated into German or English by a sworn and court-certified interpreter.
Please note:
Whether or not the general university entrance qualification is fulfilled by a foreign school-leaving certificate or Bachelor's degree is determined in a thorough examination procedure. This process only takes place after a successfully completed online application for a specific degree program that formally fulfills all requirements has been submitted. Therefore, no statement can be made in advance about the eligibility of the respective foreign school or Bachelor's degree.

Review of Your Documents by the Study Support Center
- Your documents will be checked in advance by our clerks, which can take some time.
- If we have any questions about your application, we will get back to you as soon as possible.
- After your digitally submitted documents have been checked, you will receive a request to send your original documents to the university by post if your application for admission is successful. A letter of admission can only be issued once the original documents have been checked.
- You will also receive information about residence permits/visa, insurance, accommodation and your first steps at Montanuniversität Leoben.
