Qualification Test for admission to the English-language Bachelor's degree programmes at the Montanuniversität Leoben
Applicants, regardless of their nationality, who apply for admission to the following English-language Bachelor's degree programmes at Montanuniversität Leoben from 1 November 2024,
- Circular Engineering
- Geoenergy Engineering
- Responsible Consumption and Production
must undergo a mandatory Qualification Test.
The aim of this procedure is to give applicants a comprehensive impression of the specific requirements of the chosen English-language Bachelor's programme, thereby enabling them to check their own suitability for the programme and make a considered choice of study.
For each of the English-language Bachelor's degree programmes mentioned above, a Qualification Test tailored to the requirements and content of the respective degree programme must be completed. After completing the Qualification Test, the corresponding certificate must be uploaded as part of the online application for the degree programme.

How the qualification assessment procedure works
The qualification test takes place every semester and is compulsory. It is conducted in English and consists of three parts:
1. online self-assessment:
In the online self-assessment, questions are asked about the chosen English-language degree programme. It is intended to lead to an in-depth examination of the content, requirements and framework conditions of an English-language Bachelor's degree programme in engineering and a reflection on one's own competencies.
2. motivation video:
In the motivation video, applicants have to briefly explain the reasons for pursuing the chosen degree programme at the Montanuniversität Leoben, their expectations of the degree programme and the importance of the degree programme for their future career.
3. online interview:
In the online interview on the planned choice of degree programme, questions are asked about the motivation to complete the chosen degree programme at the Montanuniversität Leoben and about the content of the chosen degree programme.
Who is exempt from the qualification test?
1. Applicants who can prove their general university entrance qualification by one of the following documents are exempt from this procedure:
a) an Austrian school-leaving certificate, an Austrian school-leaving and diploma examination certificate or an Austrian certificate of the vocational school-leaving examination, as well as certificates equivalent to these by international agreement,
b) an Austrian certificate of entitlement to study engineering at a university, teacher training college or university of applied sciences (Studienberechtigungsprüfung),
c) a European school-leaving certificate in accordance with Art. 5 Para. 2 of the Convention defining the Statute of the European Schools, Federal Law Gazette III No. 173/2005.
2. Students who are admitted to a degree programme at a foreign post-secondary educational institution and are admitted to the Montanuniversität Leoben within the framework of a mobility programme (e.g. ERASMUS);
3. students who are admitted to the Montanuniversität Leoben on the basis of a cooperation agreement between the Montanuniversität Leoben and another domestic or foreign post-secondary educational institution.
4. applicants with a degree of disability of at least 50% may apply for an alternative qualification test if the disability makes it impossible or only partially possible to carry out the qualification test in accordance with this regulation. The member of the rectorate responsible for teaching shall decide on the method of the aptitude test.
