Can I pick up my graduation documents in advance or can they be sent to me by post?
- Graduates who do not attend the graduation ceremony can collect their entire set of documents (transcript, official notice and decorative diploma) from the SSC AFTER the graduation ceremony or at the earliest TWO WEEKS AFTER the final examination.
- With the appropriate authorisation, a person of your choice can also collect the documents.
- You can also hire a courier service to collect them at your own expense.

I have submitted an access restriction request for my Master's thesis. Why is it not yet appearing as restricted in the system?
As soon as the thesis has been restricted, the status on MU-Online can be recognised by the red dot. If this is not the case, your degree is still being processed. Restriction only takes place after completion of the degree in the system, as otherwise the responsible clerks can no longer access it.
What happens if there is a conflict of interest/biased auditor?
The Dean of Studies decides whether to exclude the examiner and appoint a new person.
What happens if there is no thematically suitable 2nd examiner?
If necessary, academic staff with at least a post-doctoral level of qualification can also act as examiners.
The Master's thesis has already been started, who appoints the 2nd examiner?
The study programme representative appoints the 2nd examiner; the Dean of Studies appoints him/her.
In which language can the defence take place?
According to the curriculum; when studying in German at the request of students this is German or English, the study programme in English is then in any case English.
Who determines special dates?
These are to be agreed between the examination senate and the student; in any case, the 20 working days submission deadline must also be observed here!
The examiners must be announced to the students 10 working days before the defence.
What happens if the result of the defence is 5 (not sufficient)?
You have the option of 5 attempts, i.e. 1st attempt + 4 repetitions, whereby the examination senate consists of the Dean of Studies as chair and 4 examiners for the last attempt.
What are the deadlines for submitting the Master's thesis and assessment?
According to the curriculum, recommendation for writing (e.g. start of 4th semester, should be able to be completed in 2 semesters)

Is the positive grade on the master's thesis a prerequisite for the defence?
The master's thesis is part of the coursework, the positive completion of all the coursework specified in the curriculum is a prerequisite for admission to the defence.
Do I have to present my master's thesis again to the defence committee after presenting it to the chair/company?
The presentation of the master's thesis in the seminar or in the company does not replace the defence.
How is the Master's thesis graded?
An assessment of the content (achievement of objectives, quality of the theoretical and practical part) is combined with a formal assessment (adherence to the time frame, deadlines, completeness of the Master's thesis) and assessed by the supervisor.
