Graduation ceremonies

At Montanuniversität Leoben, the successful graduations of our students are celebrated four times a year in the Erzherzog Johann Auditorium.

After graduation, all graduates will receive a personal invitation by e-mail with the registration link for the celebration. On the day of the ceremony, graduates are to arrive at the conference office of the Erzherzog Johann Auditorium (entrance Buchmüllerplatz, on the ground floor on the right) at least 30 minutes before the ceremony, register and receive seating cards for themselves and their relatives.

In order to participate in the ceremony, it is absolutely necessary to register in good time via the registration link prior to the registration deadline.

Dates for the Bachelor's graduation ceremony

Covid-19: Measures will be taken in accordance with the currently valid COVID-19 regulations when organising the ceremonies. The 3G regulation and FFP2 mask requirement for students, staff and guests have currently been suspended until further notice.

Do I need to register for my graduation ceremony?

Yes, it is absolutely necessary to register for your ceremony via the registration link.

You can also attend one of the upcoming ceremonies. Please register for a later date via the registration link.

What time do I need to be on site for my graduation ceremony?
  • Bachelor's graduation ceremony
    You need to register at the conference office (entrance Buchmüllerplatz, on the ground floor on the right) of the Erzherzog Johann Auditorium at least 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony, at which time you will also receive the place cards for yourself and your relatives. Once you have received your place cards, you will be able to take your seat from the entrance upstairs in the Erzherzog Johann Auditorium.
  • Diplom-Ingenieur / Master's graduation ceremony
    You will be asked to arrive in the auditorium one hour before the start of the conference. Afterwards, you and your colleagues will go over to the conference office (entrance Buchmüllerplatz, on the ground floor on the right) where you will have to register and receive seating cards for you and your relatives. Once you have received your place cards, you will be able to take your seats upstairs in the Erzherzog Johann Auditorium from the time of admission.
  • Doctoral graduation ceremony
    Depending on whether you have already graduated from Montanuniversität Leoben in the past, you will receive specific information on the time and meeting point in your invitation email. Registration at the conference office of the Erzherzog Johann Auditorium (entrance Buchmüllerplatz, on the ground floor on the right) is required at least 30 minutes before the ceremony at which time you will also receive the seating cards for you and your relatives. Once you have received your place cards, you can take your seat upstairs in the Erzherzog Johann-Auditorium from the time of admission.

 

How do I find my seat?

The seats for the graduates will already be marked in writing. Please only use the seat that has been assigned to you.

What do I have to do at the ceremony?

During the entrance and exit processions – as soon as the music Gaudeamus Igitur starts – we ask you to stand to greet the academic officials and then to bid them farewell.

During graduation, we ask you to line up together with your colleagues within your field of study and receive the graduation documents after your name has been called.

Please postpone eating and drinking until after the ceremony. Mobile phones are to be switched off without exception.

How long will the graduation ceremony last?

The duration of the ceremony varies between approximately one and two hours, depending on the number of graduates attending.

What is the dress code for the graduation ceremony?

We would like to greet you and your relatives in festive attire. Of course, the Bergkittel and the Montan dirndl have a very special tradition here.

How many guests may I bring to the ceremony?

Each graduate is permitted to bring a maximum of 2 to 4 relatives to the ceremony, depending on the availability of places. The number of guests must be announced when registering for the ceremony.

Where will the ceremony take place?

The ceremony will take place in the Erzherzog Johann Auditorium. Before the ceremony, please register at the conference office (entrance Buchmüllerplatz, on the ground floor on the right) to receive admission tickets to the ceremony for yourself and your relatives.
