Co-registration – Information for external Students and MUL Students

Co-registration for external Students

If you wish to study at Montanuniversität Leoben (MUL) as a co-registered student, you may – provided that you are enrolled at another Austrian university or university colleges of teacher education – attend individual courses at MUL under certain conditions without enrolling in a full degree programme. This is done within the framework of co-registration.

Who can become a co-registered student?

→ Students who are admitted and officially registered at an Austrian university or university of college teacher education

⚠️ Students from Universities of Applied Sciences (FHs) cannot be enrolled as co-registered students at MUL.

What requirements must be met?

In accordance with § 63 para. 9 item 2 of the Austrian Universities Act (UG), co-registration is only permitted if the respective examination is not offered at your home university. In addition, taking these examinations at MUL must be approved in advance by the Dean of Studies of your home university.

This approval also serves as the basis for the later recognition of the course at your home university.

When can you enrol as a co-registered student?

How much does co-registration cost?

Students enrolled at more than one higher education institution at the same time are required to pay the tuition fee and the Austrian Students’ Union (ÖH) fee only once per semester.

Co-registered students who have duly paid these fees at their home university are exempt from paying fees at MUL.
