Styrian Memorial Foundation – Call for Applications for the Josef Krainer Promotion Award 2027

In memory of the achievements of the prominent Styrian Governor (Landeshauptmann) who served from 1948 to 1971, the Josef Krainer – Styrian Memorial Foundation is announcing the "Josef Krainer Promotion Award 2025" to honor outstanding accomplishments by young researchers.

The Promotion Award serves as a recognition of the achievements of early-career researchers and aims to encourage further work in the field of science.

The award is endowed with €2,000. The board reserves the right to divide the prize among multiple recipients.

Applicants must demonstrate the required qualification with a doctoral dissertation rated "Sehr gut" ("Very good"). The dissertation must have been approved in either 2024 or 2025.

The Josef Krainer – Styrian Memorial Foundation announces the Josef Krainer Recognition Award 2027

In memory of the achievements of the prominent Styrian Governor who served from 1948 to 1971, the Josef Krainer – Styrian Memorial Foundation is announcing the "Josef Krainer Recognition Award 2027" to honor outstanding achievements of early-career scientists and scholars.

The Recognition Award is intended for young but already well-established researchers in more advanced stages of their careers. It serves as acknowledgment of their accomplishments to date (particularly their habilitation) and as motivation for continued top-level performance.

The award is endowed with €3,000. The board reserves the right to divide the prize among multiple recipients.

Applicants must demonstrate the required qualifications through a scientific achievement that is excellent by international standards.

Rudolf Streicher Science Award 2026

The Rudolf Streicher Science Award recognises outstanding innovations in engineering and/or the natural sciences that demonstrate a clear connection to raw material cycles, materials science, sustainable processes and/or environmental protection.

Projects or research topics from all research disciplines at the Montanuniversität Leoben are eligible for submission.

Applications can be submitted by individuals or project teams/working groups of up to five people.

The following documents must be submitted:
→ a detailed description of the project or research topic;
→ CVs of the applicants (in German or English).

These documents should be submitted electronically to Peter Moser, Rector of the Montanuniversität Leoben, no later than 15 June 2026. These must be uploaded as a single ZIP file named “Rudolf Streicher Science Award_LastName_FirstName.zip” via the designated upload link.
