Cognitive Impairments

Cognitive impairments affect thinking, learning, memory, planning, and concentration. They may lead to learning and work performance that differs from so-called neurotypical norms.

Examples include:

  • Fatigue syndrome
  • Dyslexia
  • ADHD (Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder)
  • ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)

Cognitive impairments are not always visible. They may be permanent or situational and affect each person differently.

Montanuniversität Leoben supports students with cognitive impairments in structuring their studies to be as accessible and independent as possible. Depending on individual needs, the following support options are available:

  • Adjusted examination conditions
  • Reasonable adjustments to examinations
  • Alternative examination formats
  • Personal support strategies developed in consultation with course instructors
  • Organizational adjustments in daily academic life

Disability-related accommodations can be arranged individually in collaboration with the study programme coordinator and/or the course instructor.
