Where can I find my timetable?

There is no fixed timetable at the university. Your guide throughout your studies is the curriculum. It contains semester-specific recommendations for completing your courses.

You can find the current curriculum in your MU Online account:
"My Studies/Curriculum Support" ► click on "Studies" ► go to "Download" in the top left corner ► select "Study Plan" ► Here, you can download it as a PDF file.

Who is my degree programme coordinator?

You can find your degree programme coordinator in MU Online under the application "Organisational Structure" ► "Studying at MU" ► "Programme Coordinators". You can contact them with questions about credit transfers, semesters abroad, or the curriculum.

What should I do if I no longer have access to my MU Online account?

If you have forgotten your password or if logging in with your current password does not work, you will need to have your password reset.

Please contact us via email at ssc(at)unileoben.ac.at regarding this matter.

Where can I find information about my tuition fee status?

In MU Online under "Tuition Fee Status", you can check whether your tuition fee has already been received by Montanuniversität.
The amount to be paid and the payment reference are also displayed here.

Where can I obtain various certificates, such as the confirmation of enrolment, transcript of records, etc.?

The confirmation of enrolment, for example for the tax office, public transport, etc., can be found in MU Online under the application "Study Confirmations." Confirmation of academic progress can be found under the application "Transcript of Records."

What should I do if I haven’t completed the STEOP yet? Can I continue my studies?

At Montanuniversität Leoben, there is a STEOP early completion rule: Only 22 ECTS can be earned before completing the STEOP. If the STEOP is not completed, academic progress will be hindered.

What are tolerance semesters? What impact do they have on my tuition fees?

Under the application "My Studies (Curriculum Support)" ► "View My Studies," you can see how many semesters you have already completed. The tolerance semesters are important for determining your tuition fees. The fee is calculated based on the standard duration of study plus 2 tolerance semesters. This means that in a Bachelor's program, you will have to pay the increased tuition fee starting from the 10th semester.

Tolerance semesters:

Bachelor's programs:             7 + 2 tolerance semester
Master's programs:                4 + 2 tolerance semester
Doctoral programs:                6 + 2 tolerance semester

What is the Minimum number of credits?

Students who have been admitted to a Bachelor's degree programme for the first time since the winter semester 2022/23, or who have resumed an earlier Bachelor's degree programme since this date, are obliged to complete a minimum of 16 ECTS credits within the first four semesters.

If this minimum is not achieved, admission to the degree programme will expire and you will be barred from re-admission to the same degree programme at the Montanuniversität Leoben for four semesters.

The deadline by which at least 16 ECTS must have been completed is 31 October or 31 March after the end of the fourth semester after the start of the degree programme. Semesters on leave of absence do not count towards these 4 semesters.

If you notice difficulties in your study progress, especially in the STEM subjects, we recommend that you participate in the Peer Teaching programme of the Montanuniversität Leoben.

The minimum study performance does not apply to students with a proven impairment.

What are free elective courses? What are bound elective courses?

You can generally choose free elective courses freely. You are not bound to any catalog and can take any course at a domestic or international university, as long as it is not a mandatory course or a bound elective in your curriculum.

For bound electives, you must complete a certain number of ECTS within the elective groups. More details can be found in your curriculum.

You can find your curriculum in your MU Online account:

"My Studies/Curriculum Support" ► click on "Studies" ► go to "Download" in the top left corner ► select Study Plan ► download available as a PDF.
