Several times a year, we honour the achievements of our graduates with a festive ceremony in the Erzherzog-Johann Auditorium of the Montanuniversität Leoben.
Invitation and registration:
After graduation (about three weeks before the upcoming graduation ceremony), all graduates will receive a personal email with the registration link to the ceremony.
Note: Participation is only possible with timely registration via this link.

Photo shoots:
During the graduation ceremonies, professional photographs will be taken by Freisinger Photographie, which can be viewed and ordered online under the following link.
For data protection reasons, please note that by participating in the graduation ceremony, you and your guests give your consent to photo, sound and film recordings made during the event. If you or one of your guests does not agree to this, please let us know when registering. Those people are thus given a place in an area that is outside the camera field.

How do I manage my academic degree correctly?

When can I start using my academic degree?
Upon receipt of your award letter, you are officially entitled to use the academic degree.
Do I have to register for the graduation ceremony?
Yes, please. We strongly ask you to register by the deadline via our registration link.
I am unable to attend the upcoming graduation ceremony. What do I have to do?
We ask you to unsubscribe via the link as soon as possible. If the registration/deregistration deadline has already passed, please send us an e-mail to graduation(at)unileoben.ac.at or contact us by phone: +43 3842 402-7410.
Do I have to attend the next possible graduation ceremony?
No. It is possible to register for a subsequent graduation ceremony. The respective dates including the registration deadlines can be found under the heading "Dates".
How many guests can I bring to the celebration?
Depending on the availability of places, all graduates can bring up to 4 or 6 guests to the celebration. The exact number is to be announced when registering . Please inform us in good time of any subsequent changes to the number of guests.
Accessibility

What dress code is recommended for the graduation celebration?
Festive clothing is expressly desired for you and your relatives. The mountain smock and the Montan dirndl are particularly appreciated.
Where can I find my seat during the graduation ceremony?
The seats for graduates are marked in writing and are located in the front rows. Please (after registration on the ground floor) only take the seat assigned to you. There is free seating for your guests in the auditorium.

What tasks do I have as part of the graduation ceremony?
- Bachelor’s Graduation Ceremony
30 minutes before the start of the ceremony, you must register at the conference office (entrance Buchmüllerplatz, on the ground floor on the right) of the Erzherzog Johann Auditorium , where you will also receive the seat tickets for you and your guests. After receiving your seat tickets, you can take your named seat in the front rows of the Archduke Johann Auditorium no later than ten minutes before the start of the ceremony.
- Dipl.-Ing. and Master’s Graduation Ceremony
One hour before the start of the ceremony, you will be asked to arrive in the auditorium for the handover of the Leobner book by the municipality of Leoben. 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony, you must register at the conference office (entrance Buchmüllerplatz, on the ground floor on the right) of the Erzherzog Johann Auditorium, where you will also receive the tickets for you and your guests. At the latest 15 minutes before the start of the ceremony, you must take the seat marked by name in the front rows of the Archduke Johann Auditorium.
- Doctoral Graduation Ceremony
If you have not yet graduated from the University of Leoben in your academic career, you will be presented with the Leoben Book by the municipality of Leoben in the auditorium one hour before the start of the graduation ceremony. Registration at the conference office of the Erzherzog Johann-Auditorium (entrance Buchmüllerplatz, on the ground floor on the right) is required for all doctoral candidates up to 20 minutes before the ceremony, where you will also receive the seat tickets for yourself and your guests. After receiving your seats, take your seat in the front rows of the Archduke Johann Auditorium at least 15 minutes before the start of the ceremony.
How long does the graduation ceremony last?
The duration of the ceremony depends on the number of participating graduates. As a rule, it is about one to two hours. We ask you to allow enough time.
I missed the registration deadline. Can I still register later?
No, registrations after the deadline are unfortunately not possible for organizational reasons. However, you will have the opportunity to participate in one of the following academic celebrations. It is also possible to receive a certificate without participating in the ceremony. Please contact the SSC for more information.
I don't want to take part in an graduation ceremony, but I would like to have a role. How do I proceed?
There is no obligation to participate in the graduation ceremony. However, it is possible to receive the certificate including any role without attending an graduation ceremony. Please contact us by e-mail in this regard.
